I.

My mother had called to invite me out for dinner at a suburban restaurant.

I arrived early and was walking around the restaurant when I saw Sally, an old childhood friend, sitting at a table in the bar.

I walked over to her and asked her if she remembered me and she said she did, reminding me that we had been friends on Facebook for more than a decade.

I asked her if she was meeting someone for dinner and she looked at me awkwardly just as my mother arrived and greeted Sally with a hug.

I asked my mother if she remembered Sally and she said that she did.

My mother went on to confess that she and Sally had been in contact for the past few months after Sally had called her one day her telling my mother that she had been in love with me since we were kids and that following her recent divorce wanted to find a way to reach out to me.

My mother said she arranged the meeting at the restaurant at Sally's request and then wished us both well and left.

Then I woke up.

II.

I was at my childhood friend Burton's house on Kedzie downstairs recording some tracks on the piano when I heard some guitar music coming from the second floor.

Thinking I was the only one in the house, I yelled up to see who was there.

It was my friend Rob who said he had come over to do some recording and mixing in the upstairs studio.

Rob and I hadn't seen each other in more than 40 years and I was slightly apprehensive to see how he had looked after so many years so I decided to stay downstairs until he called down to me to come up and say hello.

As I began to climb the carpet-covered stairs, a small, thick, green-colored glass "wheel" rolled slowly down the stairs and came to a stop right in front of me.

I'd never seen anything like it and had no idea what it was or what it could possibly be used for.

Then I woke up.

III.

I was driving northbound down Lake Shore Drive in heavy afternoon traffic when I noticed the far lefthand lane I was in was about to merge with the lane to my right.

I quickly accelerated in an attempt to overpower the car to my right and just managed to cut in to the lane before mine ended.

Just then, I observed the brake lights on the car that was now in front of me and realized I had gained too much speed in my attempt to change lanes.

Noticing that the traffic was backing up, I quickly gained on the car in front of me realizing I was going too fast to stop and knew there was nothing I could to avoid rear-ending the car in front of me so I braced myself for the impact.

Then I woke up.
